Lake Shadows

02/21/2016

It was bitterly cold and I was returning home from some personal errands. I noticed shadows reaching across a frozen lake close to my home and decided to return with my gear. It was so cold that I decided to use my Hasselblad 50-110mm zoom lens so I could keep my gloves on and I was fairly certain the 50-100mm range was sufficient for what I wanted to create. The ice was extremely bright while the shadows were very dark. I made several exposures to make sure I got the correct exposure.

My exposure was 1/160th of a second at f16 and I made this photograph using my digital Hasselblad camera.
