I had walked up and down parts of the frozen beach hoping to see a photograph in my mind; however, it was bitterly cold. I drove a few more miles down the beach, repeated the process, but still nothing. At sunset, by chance, I decided to check the bay side of the island. I parked near a pier, along side a few other parked cars, also with passengers who were watching the sunset. I got out into the cold and walked along the pier and immediately noticed the ice. I ran back to the truck, got my camera and tripod, then made a few exposures. It was extremely windy and I had little hope of getting a crisp photograph of the ice. I returned to my truck and warmed my hands on the vents with the heat on high.
